Auxiliary:

Members of the White County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary were recently honored guests at a recognition luncheon at the Hospital.   The WCMH Auxiliary was formed prior to the Hospital opening in 1956.  It has served the Hospital and community unselfishly through the years.

These ladies raised money in the early years by having a variety of fund raising sales to include geranium, bake goods, books, and croissants to mention just a few.  It also rented TV’s to the patients and had a book/snack cart which they took to the patient rooms.  All profits were used to purchase needed patient care equipment for the Hospital.

They also hand-sewed “Pinky Puppets” for the children who were admitted to the Hospital or were a patient in the Emergency Department and/or Same Day Surgery.  These puppets are now being replaced with hand-made bears.

Today the Auxiliary gives each baby born at the Hospital a baby spoon.  The parents are given a badge to wear indicating whether a “boy” or “girl” was born.  “Christmas babies” receive a Holiday bunting, which is also hand-made.

Today, the Auxiliary continues to provide an invaluable service to the Hospital.  Added to its list of tasks, it labels countless boxes of chargeable items each month.   Most recently, these members have assumed the responsibility as hospitality greeters in the main Hospital lobby.

NEW EQUIPMENT

The WCMH Ladies Auxiliary donated money to purchase new equipment for the OB department. The monies donated went toward purchasing a digital camera and cart for the OB department. This allows the new born photos to be taken right there in the room with the moms and families instead of going down the hall. It also allows mom to see the picture right away, and allow for retakes if needed. The money also went toward 2 mini Metro Carts used for neonatal resuscitation. One is present at every delivery and is ready for any babies in trouble. Thank you Ladies for the hard work and valuable equipment.
